Pipeline Education Liberia

An effective education pipeline is the defining feature of Star University’s educational program in Liberia. Countless studies demonstrate a link between a lack of education and poverty. Nowhere is this more apparent than across the African continent where higher education opportunities are limited and often economically out of reach. Star U believes that education must start in the community with strong childhood primary education that sets a foundation for success. The university is changing the educational landscape with the help of dedicated individuals by designing a curriculum that will help shape student progress from primary school to higher education. The Star U education pipeline views K–12 schooling and higher education as singular entities that prepare students for leadership and careers.

Today, the Fay Rogers American Schools in Liberia are under the umbrella of Star University’s Center for World Mission. This fall the Center for World Missions launched its third campus in Liberia, the Galilee Campus. This campus serves a 3 village cluster of Massa Town, Lousina Town, and Montserrado County and is home to approximately 200 students.

Students entering the 10th grade will participate in the Star “concurrent” studies program. Young people will have the opportunity to attend college-level classes in high school and earn credits toward a degree. Courses, such as digital literacy, will help students gain knowledge to succeed not only in college but in the ever-changing 21st century. Pipeline education will prepare them for leadership in their communities and a happy, healthy, life.
